Ang Thiessen
Receptionist
I was born and raised in Switzerland. When I was 17 years old my family immigrated to Canada and bought a dairy farm outside of Vita. The move from the Alps to the Prairies was a big change, but I was excited about the new opportunities this country had to offer. Even though I already graduated from high school and finished one year of university back home, I went back to high school here in Canada. I did not see that as a bad thing, as it gave me the opportunity to learn English and make friends. One of those friends is now my husband, whom I met in Gr 11.
We are happily married, and we live in Vita with our younger daughter Liana. She is in Gr. 11 this year and is busy with school sports, student council and working at the local daycare.
Ladina, our older daughter, has been living in Winnipeg for the past four years, while going to university and working. In her free time, she enjoys sports and playing the piano.
It was always important to both my husband and I that I would be around as much as possible, while the girls were growing up. Working as an Educational Assistant allowed me to do just that. Not to mention that I loved working with students of all ages. After 18 years at school, I felt it was time for a change and for me to start something new. I always planned to go back to school once the girls are older and taking on the receptionist position here at the salon is a step in that direction. In the next couple of years, I am planning on going to school to get my hairstyling diploma, as hair has always been something that interested me.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, gardening, and in summer you’ll often find me just puttering in the yard. I also enjoy crocheting and Rec. Volleyball during the winter months.
I love working here at Classic Impressions. It did not take much time and I felt right at home with the girls here, as they were all very welcoming and helpful. Connie is a boss like no other, and she is really more like a mom to everyone. I could tell right away that this is a place for people, whether you are a client, an employee or a delivery driver, everyone is appreciated.
